August 22, 2008
On Sunday 17 August at 11.30 am our Waikato boys took on their first pre season game against a visiting Counties-Manukau side. The game was held at Taupiri RFC, whose fields have held up much better than others with the weather bombs of late.
A game of 3 3rds, Waikato dominated from the start with both the backs and the forwards scoring a total of 7 tries. Counties-Manukau played a gutsy game, never giving up for a final score of 41-5.
A great effort and outcome for their first time out, Waikato U13s you should be proud!
Thanks Counties- Manukau for venturing down into the winter Waikato weather and good luck for your build up and up coming tournament.

A special mention must go to Taupiri RFC who went above and beyond in their hospitality.
Because of bad ground conditions at Marist there was a last minute venue change and Taupiri RFC not
only allowed us full access to their grounds, clubrooms and facilities but they came down on their
Sunday morning and thoroughly cleaned up the clubrooms after a function held there the night before,
setting it all up again for us.
Thanks Taupiri RFC it was really appreciated!
